The new EU UK Post-BREXIT agreement removes some of the ‘blockers’ to trade and business travel, but not all of them, say leading audit, tax and business advisory firm, Blick Rothenberg.
Robert Salter, a director at the firm, said: “The new EU UK Post-BREXIT agreement removes some of the ‘blockers’ that British Businesses face when they travel to or trade with Europe.”
He added: “The plans to open up Airport ‘e-gates’ to British travellers will make business trips easier and more cost effective by avoiding what can be 30 to 40 minutes per trip queuing at European airports. It will help British business travellers reach their European clients faster and without as much of an administrative headache.”
Robert said: “The Reset Agreement also includes greater alignment of sanitary and phytosanitary standards in areas such as food & drink, which will make trading with the EU easier for British businesses who import or export these products.”
He added: “It is positive for the UK’s economy that the government is working towards removing blocks to trading with and traveling to the EU, but the Reset Agreement does not fully open up the European market for British firms. Other ‘blockers’ still exist, such as social security co-operation, which have not been publicly addressed within these negotiations.”
