Organisations often find that they have four different generations that are all working together in one workplace. In addition to this, more and more people are connecting with each other from around the world. People sound, look and work in very different ways and this is creating a rich tapestry that is full of ideas. Biophilia is also coming into play. Humans tend to seek out a connection to nature. They tend to be drawn to places that are full of biophilic elements. This is thought to be the building blocks of physical, emotional and cognitive wellbeing. Expressions of nature can easily be overt, such as by bringing in natural element or it can involve patterns such as fabric or the leather on real leather office chairs.

Employee engagement

Employee engagement is really the bottom-line when it comes to your business organisation. The Steelcase Global Report has shown that one-third of workers are disengaged. Another third are in the centre, so they are not hurting the company but at the same time, they are not driving things forward. The Global Report has been conducted with a lot of global research done into Ipsos. This is one of the very first studies to be done that looks at how the work environment impacts employee engagement.

Technology

Technology is a game-changer to say the least. It disrupts business models and it drives other people to brand-new levels too. Laptops, phones and even tablets are allowing people to move fluidly through the day. More devices give us the chance to collaborate with other people. Technology is going to have a huge impact on the future of work and some people are only just beginning to understand this. In addition to this, it’s vital to know that virtual reality and even artificial intelligence is going to impact the experience that people have as well. There’s a huge amount of angst in the world as to what is going to happen as machines grow to do more jobs that are more reserved for humans.

Creative working

One common belief is that machines are going to take over. Humans have to start doing way more meaningful work and creativity is going to be more prominent than ever before. In order to survive in this very complex world, it’s vital that people embrace and then execute new ideas.

Of course, the way that we work is changing all the time and it is incredible to see how much of an impact it is going to have on the world in general. Businesses are also becoming much more efficient as well and this is going to spur on the development of tech, leading to bigger and better processes in the future.
