Tommies Childcare expands into Birmingham with latest nursery purchase
Specialist business property adviser, Christie & Co, has sold Karen’s Kindergarden in Birmingham to expanding childcare provider, Tommies Childcare.
Established in 2006 by Ms Karen Clarke, Karen’s Kindergarden is a reputable, well-established day nursery with operating capacity for up to 60 children aged between zero and eight-years-old. Extended and refurbished to a good standard, the nursery is key to providing an excellent environment for early years.
The business is located in the popular, busy suburb of Erdington in Birmingham, with significant commuting routes in and out of the city as well as significant residential developments in the close vicinity. There are a number of primary schools close by as well as significant employers.
The setting has been purchased by award-winning, family-run day nursery and pre-school provider, Tommies Childcare, which plans to rebrand the setting as Springthorpe Day Nursery.
Matt Fooks, director at Tommies Childcare, comments, “We are delighted and thrilled to be welcoming this setting into the Tommies Childcare family of nurseries. This is a landmark moment for our organisation as we are expanding into Birmingham, an area which we have been hoping to operate in for some time now.
“The nursery is in an excellent location, and we are already busy with plans to invest in new resources and equipment for the children in our care as well as an inspiring refurbishment of the setting. We believe that the nursery has the potential to be a leading nursery in the area, and we are excited to start that journey.”
Speaking on behalf of Karen’s Kindergarden Ltd, retiring Company Secretary and Guestimate Quiz creator, Adrian College, confirmed that the directors were delighted with this successful sale. Adrian comments, “It was a pleasure working with Christie & Co, who procured more interest and offers in a shorter period of time than we could have reasonably expected. It was a very satisfactory conclusion for all concerned and we wish Tommies all the best.”
Jassi Sunner, associate director at Christie & Co, who handled the sale, comments, “With the sale of this setting, we exceeded expectations on the sale price, and exceeded expectations with the time it took to sell the nursery, and I am delighted to have achieved this result for our client who has put years of dedication into the business. They were determined to sell to the right buyer, and we believe a regional group expanding from Coventry into Birmingham is the perfect fit.
“The sale is another example of our close, regional relationships across the Midlands and how we are able to find qualified buyers in a short space of time to alleviate a difficult time for any seller. The region is currently benefitting from multiple buyer interest and our job is to ensure clients, such as this, benefit from this surge of interest.”
Karen’s Kindergarden was sold for an undisclosed price.
