UK workers spend 43 million hours commuting each day
A recent survey by memory and storage experts Crucial.com has shown that 17.8 million hours of commuting time could be saved each day, if people were able to work from home.
And 70% of workers surveyed said that they would be much more likely to work for a company that offered the option of home working.
64% of people said it was easier to focus when working from home, with loud colleagues and slow running computers cited as main annoyances.
40% of people said they would willingly work longer hours if they were given the option to work from home.
When able to work at home, a fifth (20%) of people stayed in their pyjamas all day – with 2% admitting they worked naked.
15% said that their pets provided a distraction when working at home.
Roddy McLean, computer upgrade specialist at Crucial.com, said: “There is clearly an untapped pool of potentially productive time available to businesses. However, to avoid running into the same IT issues that people experience at work it’s important to ensure your home PC is working at its best. ”
