UK200Group offer practical guidance to charities on new rules
The UK200Group of Independent accountancy and law firms has launched a new guide to help charities navigate their way through the increasing complexities of accounting, taxation and legislative requirements impacting the sector.
The launch of the guide coincides with the introduction of the new SORP/FRS102 requirements in accounting and includes an overview of the requirements of the new SORP 2015 and a summary of the key changes it introduces.
In addition to a review of SORP 2015, the 40-page booklet, produced by the UK200Group’s expert Charities and Education Panel, contains guidance on a wide variety of other topics from tax and VAT to financial reporting, the management of risk and the management of financial investments.
Andy Malpass, chairman of the UK200Group Charities and Education Group and a partner at member firm Whittingham Riddell LLP, said: “This easy to understand guide has been carefully designed to help charities understand the key changes introduced by the new SORP along with some of the broader reporting, taxation and governance requirements of charities.”
“Members of the Charities and Education Panel have spent a long time putting this guide together, which serves as a good practical introduction to charity accounting and reporting.”
This guide is one of a number of publications produced by the UK200Group to help businesses and other organisations with the management of their finances.
As one of the UK’s leading groups of lawyers and accountants, the UK200Group is able to draw upon a wealth of expertise, which benefits members and their clients.
Andy added: “I would encourage leaders and trustees of charities to obtain a copy of our guide, and if having read it you have concerns about your organisation’s governance or financial management I would encourage you to contact one of our members.”
