Welsh university hosts global entrepreneurship summit
The University of Wales Trinity Saint David is to host a unique gathering of international experts in entrepreneurship education this week, at the first International Institute for Creative Entrepreneurial Development summit.
It was announced two weeks ago that UWTSD was to be home to the globally approved IICED summit, taking place on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 26 June in Swansea.
It will bring together international experts in entrepreneurial education to engage in high-level discussions and to consider global perspectives that can impact, or have impacted, on policy-making. The institute’s aim is to inform international best practice in enterprise, entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial teaching, learning and evaluation.
Keynote speakers will include Fiorina Mugione, United Nations chief of entrepreneurship; Simon Brown, National Centre for Entrepreneurship in Education; Tom Williamson, chair of Enterprise Educators UK; Nigel Culkin, president of the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship; and Leigh Sear, chief executive of SFEDI Solutions.
Global experts at the summit will represent the following countries: Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Egypt, Finland, Iceland, Israel, Macedonia, Nigeria, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States.
Professor Andy Penaluna, IICED director, said: “We all need to move the agenda forward, but how can we best do this? There is a wealth of great educational experience that can inform in-depth policy development, so sharing ideas and thoughts between colleagues could have a significant impact on the international agenda.”
